Thirsty or deep watered
Did you know that proper watering techniques are very important for the survival of succulents? These hardy plants store water in their fleshy leaves and stems. Some of the factors that can affect how often we water are the seasons, container size, sunlight and humidity. Succulents need more water in summer, when they are bigger plants in bigger containers and are in direct sunlight. All terracotta pots absorb water quickly and those succulents need watering frequently. Over and under watering can make the leaves drop, shrivel and weaken the plant. Wetting the leaves from above increase the risk of water collecting in the rosette succulents and as seen in the photo below, can be infested with pests and destroy the entire plant. Incomplete drainage can be a growing medium for pests like fungus gnats and this leads to rotting of stem and roots. It is always safe to water the soil directly when it is dry and crumbly.
In contrast to this in our spiritual journey, we will not thrive without regular, deep watering with the word of God. Life cannot go on with sprinkles of water but we need to intentionally refresh our heart and mind with God's word and connect with Jesus the wellspring of love. Pursue deeper knowledge of God's word and His promises by studying the word and spending time with him personally. God alone can replenish a thirsty soul and living water signifies the presence of God and the Holy Spirit.
